Spiritual Mothers of Priests

A blog created in response to Pope Benedict's institution of the Sacerdotal Year 2009-10 and which aims to spread knowledge of the vocation of a spiritual mother and to encourage women to consider embracing it.

'Vultus Christi' blog of Fr Mark Kirby O.S.B (Hon. Spiritual Director of this blog)

  • The Triduum: Evening I

Why following this blog is different

1. It is an international witness to your support of Pope Benedict's endorsement of Cardinal Hummes' search for consecrate feminine souls to become Spiritual Mothers of Priests.

2. By becoming a follower you commit yourself to nothing, other than as much prayer as you can offer, for priests and for the Spiritual Mother's movement within the Church. And nobody can check up on that! It's entirely up to you. (Keep your identity private by using a pseudonym.)

3. It is nothing to do with the popularity of the blog author but shows the blog world just how globally important the Spiritual Mothers of priests initiative is to loyal Catholics, particularly during the Year of the Priest.

I'll probably edit, and add to this later. Very busy with the blog, correspondence and good old networking.

Don Bosco's dream

On May 30, 1862, Don Bosco recounted that in a dream he had seen an immense sea on which a great many ships were arranged for battle against a larger and taller ship. He also saw others that were defending the tall ship... read Don Bosco's own account at Da Mihi Animas, here.

S. Monica, Ora Pro Nobis!

O God, the comforter of them that mourn, and the hope of them that put their trust in thee, who didst favourably accept the tears of blessed Monica for the conversion of Augustine her son : grant, we pray thee ; that at the intercession of these thy servants, we may so bewail the sins that we have committed, that we may be worthy to obtain the abundant pardon of thy grace.

S. Johannis Vianney, Ora Pro Nobis!

Almighty and merciful God, who didst make St John Mary to be wonderful in pastoral zeal and unchanging love for prayer and penance, grant we beseech thee, that by his example and intercession we may be able to gain the souls of our brethren in Christ, and with them to arrive at the glory of eternity.
